The tour members arriving from the USA had found traveling via Seoul is the most convenient way of getting to Ulaan Baator. Either from Los Angeles, USA  or from Vancouver, Canada there are direct flights to Seoul. Delta and American Airlines fly to Seoul. You can use your frequent flyer for arriving Ulaan Baator on Mongolian Air as Mongolian Air is a partner of Delta ( This information is subject to change with Airline policies - please make sure you consult with DELTA for their latest policies).
Mongolian Air leaves from Seoul at 07:30 AM arriving at Ulaan Baator around mid day.
The choices of the previous tour members about staying in Seoul was varied.
To give you an idea : some chose to spend few days in Seoul so those people preferred to stay at  the capital city, Seoul. However, most of the tour members had expressed extreme satisfaction for the arrangements they made for staying at the AIR PORT HOTEL right in the terminal building

Should you decide to arrive at Ulaan Baator a day or two before the tour starts, MELITOUR will arrange for your transfer from the hotel no matter what day you arrive and we can reserve room for your extra nights.The room rates at HOTEL EDELWEISS is US$ 75 /day Single US$ 95 /day double. This charge can be added to your invoice or you can pay the hotel with credit card to STEPPE NOMAD TRAVEL AND TOURS CO LTD once you are in Mongolia.

INFO ON DEPARTURE
The tour members have chosen to leave from Alma Aty in different routes.

Via Istanbul: Those who can get a round the world ticket choose to travel West bound and stop in Istanbul for a day or 2 then continue to the USA or Canada. Turkish Air lines and Kazak air lines fly out of Alma Aty on Mondays when the tour is over. If you like we can arrange for your hotel and transfers in Istanbul.( Not included in the tour cost)

Via Seoul: This route is very often used. MELITOUR can get Alma Aty - Seoul  plane tickets for the tour members who choose to travel this way. It seems like when purchased from Turkey, the air line ticket for Alma Aty Seoul is cheaper than what they charge in the USA. In 2005 the cost of Alma Aty- Seoul US$600 and this flight leaves on Monday as well getting you to Seoul in time to connect International flight out the West Coast America ( Schedules are subject to change by the air line)

Via Beijing: This is not a very popular destination though some tour members have chosen this destination. In case you choose this destination , you will need to spend a night in Beijing before you can catch your International flight. MELITOUR can arrange hotel/transfer arrangements in Beijing.
