| VISA US citizens and the Canadiens need a visa to travel in Turkey. You may obtain this visa upon your arrival at the Istanbul airport. The fee is $ 20 for the Americans and US$ 45 for the Canadiens , in US currency. The visa is valid for three months. When you come out of your plane please proceed to the Visa Booth. They only accept cash. They are very efficient at charging you this visa, You will not loose more than 3 minutes,if you have the right change in cash. POLICE CHECK AND LUGGAGE / MEETING MELITOUR REPRESENTATIVE FOR TRANSFER After paying for your visa please proceed to police control. Baggage claim is immediately down the ramp after the police check. If you need a cart, you will need to pay one US $2 cash to a person who stands by the carts. It will be nice if you have a change. MEETING YOUR MELITOUR REP. The Melitour representative for transfer to the hotel will meet you out side the custom area. Look for a MELITOUR sign as soon as you leave the customs gate. Some times those who are waiting for the arriving passengers get very crowded. So please make sure you really look for the MELITOUR sign. EMERGENCY INFO FOR TRANSFER Hotel Ayasofya * If you do take a taxi it can be a
little fun experience. There are 3 Hotel AYASOFYA's in Istanbul. Generally
3 out of 4 taxi drivers will take you to the wrong Hotel Ayasofya. And
will need to stop and ask around until he finds the right one. Be patient
!! It only becomes a fun little story after you finally get to the
hotel. |
